Helpful Guidelines

  • Classes will start promptly. Therefore, it will be appreciated if you come 15-20 min. early to get settled on your mat with your props.
  • A spacious bathroom is available if you need to change and clean before going to work, or to change your clothes from work for class.
  • All students should bring their own mats and towels, if needed. This is the best way to stay well. Mats may be purchased on the Internet, at sport stores, or even some groceries. Community mats and other props will be available.  Manduka is a good brand of mat and has extra long ones for tall body shapes.
  • If you are late, PLEASE wait at the french doors until the teacher motions you to come in.
  • As a courtesy to others, if you are not feeling well or know you are sick please do not attend yoga classes.
  • Wear comfortable clothes, t-shirts or tank tops and long shorts, bicycle shorts, tights or leggings. No baggy pants, please, as your alignment cannot be properly seen.
  • Please remove your shoes before entering the yoga room. No gum or perfume allowed due to students with chemical sensitivities who may be affected negatively.
  • Practice on a near-empty stomach (meals 2 – 3 hours before). Be sure that you are hydrated and that your bladder is empty.
  • Please mute your cell phone and leave it in your basket.  If you are wearing a watch, make sure it is silenced.
  • Parking available on the streets in front of the house. Walk up the driveway and proceed to the stairwell behind our home leading you to the studio where the reception area is located.
  • We will post closing information due to inclement weather on www.joyoga.us - please check before coming to class
  • Make-ups: If you miss a class, you may make it up at one of the other classes on the schedule during the current session.  If you have signed up for a class and aren't going to make it, we would appreciate it if you let us know with a text or email.
